Dieter Dierks

Dieter Dierks (Hans-Dieter Dierks) was born on 9th February 1943 in Stommeln, Germany. Between 1969 and 1975 numerous ‘Krautrock’ recordings were produced at Dierks’ Studio including albums by Ash Ra Tempel, Tangerine Dream, Guru Guru, Popol Vuh, Amon Düül and Floh de Colgne, but he is most renowned for his work with Scorpions.
Dieter was the producer of Scorpions between 1975 and 1988. His work with them was so invaluable he became known as “the sixth member”.

In 1999 Dierks took out a patent on DVDplus. The DVDplus patent is a combination of a DVD with a regular CD, which by bonding enables double-sided play back of the sound and the image carrier. Sony USA is using the Dierks’ licence under the trading name of DualDisc.
