Chris is a British Grammy-nominated record producer, sound engineer, and mixer. He is best known for his work with many heavy metal and rock bands including Judas Priest, Anvil, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, UFO and Black Sabbath. He has also worked with many pop and alternative artists including Depeche Mode, Tom Jones and The Sisters of Mercy.
He also created and invented the VORTEX mic-ing system favoured by studios and producers worldwide for getting the truest and most natural guitar sounds from their guitar amps.
1.) WHICH RECORD HAS HAD THE MOST PROFOUND INFLUENCE ON YOU?
Physical Graffiti , Led Zep….1975, first album to have a real drum sound, it had different styles of songs and yet it totally worked.
2.) HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU SPEND A WEEK RECORDING/PLAYING/CREATING?
At least 40 hours.
3.) WHICH OF YOUR OWN CREATIONS IS YOUR FAVOURITE?
There are many songs I had the privilege of working on but if pressed just to choose one it would be “Touch of Evil” from Painkiller [Judas Priest].
4.) WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST REGRET?
Not having the time available to work with Spinal Tap on their “Break like the wind” L.P.
5.) WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?
Play guitar in NWOBHM band “MORE”.
6.) OTHER THAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHAT IS YOUR MOST CHERISHED POSSESSION?
My Gibson Les Paul gold top 1957 reissue… first ever reissue of this guitar by Gibson. Made in 1989.

John Bonham, Jimi Hendrix, Phil Lynott.
8.) WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD?
Los Angeles!
9.) IF YOU DIDN’T HAVE YOUR ART WHAT OCCUPATION DO YOU THINK YOU WOULD BE DOING?
I’d like to think I’d be working in the film biz, something behind the scenes no doubt.
